History Of Your Room: This room honors Hannah Amelia Lyon, who was a teacher at the Central School and helped open the school in 1857. Mrs. Lyon was paid $35 per month for being the supervising teacher in charge of 145 students between the ages of 4 and 17. She later moved with her family to Dakota Territory where she continued to teach students.
