History Of Your Room: Welcome to The Legacy Loft, honoring Hannah Amelia Lyon, one of the first teachers at Central School. Hannah journeyed to Geneseo from New York, becoming an integral part of the community before answering the call for teachers in the Dakota Territory. Adorned with elegant art deco furniture from the historic Geneseo House Hotel, this room also features the plastered outline of an original chimney used for heating the minds of young children until 1890. You can even see the marks left by respected international lawyer Harry Brown’s rolling desk chair, a testament to the legacy of learning that permeates this space.
